The recommendations for pediatric dosing of Ibuprofen is to give 4-10 mg/Kg/dose every 6 to 8 hours. A maximum single dose should not exceed 400mg/dose, and maximum daily dose is 40mg/kg/day.
The order reads, give 45 mg of Ibuprofen every 6 hours for 24 hours for a child whose weight is 40 pounds, and is his age is 3.5 years old. The drug label reads, 30mg/1.25ml.
