Executive Summary
Change with respect to business or individual or an
y processes can be defined as metamorphoses and transformation from the current state to a much desirable state. This is so because current state has become inadequate while the next level has become suitable and better meet the requirement of the environment. Change is fundamental part of development and forms a critical component for the survival of the organization. Management of this change is also essential and can be considered as a discipline that illustrates one to prepare for the changes, equip the stakeholders with essential tools and support them to adapt the change such that long term goals are achieved. This process of change impacts all the stakeholders of the organization like people who are involved are top management which includes CEO, senior management, several business teams and employees working at ground level. A transformation that takes place at all the level of an organization (Kleindorfer, P., and Wassenhove, N., 2005).
Maximum of changes in the organization happens are considered as top to bottom however, if the change requires to be implemented effectively and efficiently then communication should occur from top to bottom as well as bottom-to-up. Reason for change is survival, if one does not change with the given condition and evolve accordingly then we might become extinct. Change is critical for survival and staying relevant with the competition. Change can ensure development that is important if business or individual aspires to achieve one's long-term goals. For instance, companies like Kodak who market leaders at one point of time have now gone out of existence. Kodak did not evolve with the market and refused to change with the customer, which was primary reason why it went of business.
Need for Change in Microsoft
Today in the world of globalization where there is intense competition, growing inclination towards customers as well as disruptions have become second nature to the market. It has become even more essential that business focus on overall development of business rather than just considering the bottom line as a barometer to progress. Development of business is called sustainable only if there is a balance between present and future, essentially implying meeting the present requirements and needs without putting in danger to the ability of future generation to fulfil their needs (Bamford, D. and Daniel, S., 2005).
Therefore, management practices and strategies that are inclined towards the sustainable operations are critical for a business to thrive in near future. As actions are powerful than words, an organization can become aligned with sustainable business management only if operations are influenced by the principles and framework of sustainable management. Since many sustainability impacts is strongly influenced by operations decisions taken up by, the senior leadership of business it is integral that the operations function of organization enhances the pre-requisites of sustainability management. Essentially, this implies taking up decisions that makes the business processes and functional unit associated with operations oriented according to the corporate strategy (Carter, C.R. and Rogers, D., 2008). All the departmental units’ needs to align with sustainable strategy like design, planning as well as control aspect for improvement. For instance, suitable natural, environment friendly and social performance goals, targets and pointers should be coordinated with quality, cost and other progressively traditional execution measures. A feedback mechanism if be incorporated in the organization such that network can improve for betterment, viewpoint of all the critical stakeholders is embraced, and the necessities of different partners notwithstanding the client must drive tasks choices (Hossan, C., 2015).
