The productivity of dairy cows is reduced by heat stress. This experiment concerns the effect on body temperature of several types of cooling treatments. Two white and two black cows, identified by the variable Cowid, were randomly assigned to two exposures of four treatments: fan, shade, mist, and sun (control). The experiments were conducted at times for which environmental conditions were essentially identical. Two responses were measured: surface and rectal temperature. The data are shown in Table 10.33.


Perform separate analyses for the two response variables for the effect of cow color and shade treatment. Note that this is a split plot with cow color as the main plot effect.
