The principle of double effect says that if an action has a bad and a good effect, it is not wrong to do it if we intend only the good effect, the good cannot be attained without the bad, and the good effect is proportional to the bad. Describe an action that has the bad effect of destroying one of the basic goods and the good effect of preserving one of the basic goods. Would the principle of double effect say that your action is not morally wrong? Explain why.
