(a) Derive an expression for P/A, in terms of mean effective pressure and mean piston speed for two-stroke and four-stroke engine cycles.


(b) Compute typical maximum values of P/Ap for a spark-ignition engine (e.g., Fig. 1-4), a turbocharged four-stroke cycle diesel engine (e.g., Fig. 1-22), and a large marine diesel (Fig. 1-24). Table 2-1 may be helpful. State your assumptions clearly.
