1. Ghrelin is an orexigenic hormone.
2. Satiety signals include insulin and leptin.
3. Orlistat acts centrally to inhibit release of orexigenic neurotransmitters.
4. Vitamin D deficiency can occur with orlistat treatment.
5. Orlistat treatment for obesity should be restricted to individuals with a body mass index (BMI) of more than 30 kg/m2.
6. Weight loss is usually sustained after 12 months of orlistat treatment.
