The paper is to be 3-4 pages long (double spaced). It should be in a standard research/biography format where you cite your sources at the end of the paper. I do not need footnotes or numberd citations and you do not need a cover page.

Please keep in mind that I have read thousands of these papers over the years and I can tell when the entire thing has been cut and pasted. Make sure the paper includes your own thoughts and not just a complete cut and paste job.

The paper is to be about a composer/lyricist or a composer/lyricist team.

Samples of composer/lyricists are Cole Porter, Irving Berlin, Lynn Manuel Miranda, Stephen Sodheim etc. These people write both words and music. Examples of composer/lyricist teams are Rodgers and Hammerstein, Lerner and Lowe, Time Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber, Kander and Ebb, etc. In this case one person writes the music and the other writes the words.

When you have finished your paper you need to submit it through Blackboard for grading.

If you follow these simple instructions you should have no problem getting an A. In the past when people have scored lower it is usually because either the paper is riddled with spelling and grammar mistakes or the paper is about someone who is not a composer/lyricist or a team. For example, you can’t write a paper about Richard Rodgers by himself as he only writes music. The paper needs to cover people who write musicals for the Broadway or West End stage.
