The owner of a house wishes to install a system on his driveway to melt the snow in winter (the driveway is sloped so that any liquid water would run off the driveway). The driveway is 15 meters long and 3 meters wide, and is made of concrete. Assume that any heat removed from the driveway is coming directly from the snow. The homeowner desires that the system be able to melt up to 2.5 cm of snow per hour. Assume that the amount of energy needed to heat the snow to the melting point and then melt the snow is 350 kJ/kg, and the density of the snow is 70 kg/m3. Design a heating system that will accomplish this melting process.
