The output of this task is a written project proposal (please note, you are not actually required to carry out the project). The proposal will combine what you have learned in the research methods section of this course with the therapeutic reasoning section of this course.
You will identify an unmet health need (at either the community or individual level), conduct a literature review justifying the need for the project, and then use therapeutic reasoning to identify and justify the goals for the project and the intervention method proposed to achieve these goals.
Your project proposal should include:
•    Introduction - statement of the problem; identification of unmet healthcare need;
•    Literature review – what is known so far about this unmet healthcare need
•    Goals for the project – use evidence based practice principles and therapeutic reasoning to establish goals
•    Procedure – describe how the project will be conducted to achieve your identified goals (what intervention methods you will use and why); Include how you propose to evaluate the project;
•    Summary/conclusion


You are free to identify any unmet healthcare need that is within the scope of practice of occupational therapy. Your proposed project may be in an area that occupational therapists do not traditionally work in, however it must have an enabling occupation focus.


Task will be assessed using the following criteria:
•    Use of evidence-based practice principles and therapeutic reasoning to create proposal;
•    Identification of presenting issues
•    Appropriateness of intervention plan proposed
•    Identification of assessment and evaluation procedures
•    Articulation of professional reasoning
