The opening size of a proposed culvert under a new road is to be determined. The culvert, shown schematically in Figure 13-25, will have a height no greater than 5.1 feet. Design discharge has been computed to be 420 cfs. Find the culvert opening dimensions for the following shapes:
a. Circular concrete pipe
b. Concrete box
Note: Multiple barrels are allowed, and each culvert has 45-degree wingwalls and a square edge entrance. Which shape would you choose?
