The nurse meets the psychosocial needs of the client with cancer and his family’s needs by:
1. conversing on a superficial level so she does not always have to think about her condition.
2. allowing the client personal time to adjust to the diagnosis but answer questions and provide support as needed.
3. allaying anxiety by not giving any information about treatment options or adverse reactions.
4. providing all the physical care for the client so the family is not involved with these needs.
