The marketing department of a company funded by Lendright believes that consumer tastes for beer are related to geographical area. They have therefore commissioned research to investigate the popularity of six leading brands of beer. Two different panels, one from the north, the other from the south, tasted the products and ranked them in their order of preference. To avoid bias, the name of the products was withheld and substituted with the labels A–F. The results of the blind testing were as follows:
