Blood spatter or blood stain
are usually analyzed in the field of forensic science in order to detect any type of criminal offenses like murder, attempt to murder, suicide and many more with the purpose of drawing the conclusion of the nature, time and other details related to the crime. Each blood spatters talks about the characteristic traits of the culprit and even helps to assist in the reconstruction of those events of an alleged incident, which could have created the stains and the stain pattern present at the crime scenes. These blood spatters are usually considered as the physical evidence from the crime scenes, which would help the CIDs or other investigating officers to detect the criminals and reach towards them. This paper would deal with the research topic “blood spatter” and other related information.
Types of Blood Spatters
Bloodstains or spatters are classified into three basic types, which include mainly, the passive stains, the transfer stains and the projected stains. The passive stains imply the drops of blood on the solid surface such as wood, or any concrete structures. The projected stains or the impact spatter is the most common form of spatter which occurs when the object impact the source of the blood.
The spatter projected outward and away from the source such as an exit wound. The transfer spatter on the other hand, occurs when a wet bloody surface encounters the second surface (Attinger et al.). The transfer bloodstain again is divided into four segments, firstly the swipe pattern, which describes the transfer of blood onto the surface not already contaminated with blood.
Secondly, the wipes pattern where an object moves through blood, which was not completely removable. Thirdly, smear pattern, which implies a large volume of blood and finally the smudge pattern, which can be distorted to some degrees in future. These types of blood spatters help the investigating officers to detect more conveniently and easily by understanding the blood groups as well as the blood types and analyze the crimes and its related criminals. Blood is such a factor that helps any crime-detecting person to easily get through the evidences and put a hold on the criminals (Dryzal).
