The incidence of a certain skin disease occurring, particularly in women, is influenced by the occurrence of menopause (cessation of menstruation), in the sense that the incidence increases after menopause. On the other hand, the occurrence of the disease does not influence the likelihood of menopause occurring. Neither disease nor menopause influences the likelihood of death. Explain the local dependence operating here. For details, see Aalen et al. (1980) or Didelez (2007).
