To manage an organization today requires skills, competences, strategic vision and most of all lLeadership that support the process of change. Leadership is a process in which leader and followers interact in a way that enables the leader to influence the actions of the followers in a non-coercive way, towards the achievement of certain aims or objectives (Rollinson, 2008). With the current scenario of rapid change, leadership is gaining increasing popularity among academics, managers, and other professionals interested in processes of change. The successful management of organizational change is a critical factor for all organizations in order to survive and succeed in today’s highly competitive and turbulent business environment (Heckmann, Steger, & Dowling, 2015) The process of change is not autonomous, it generates instability and uncertainty with the aim of reaching a new phase of certainty and stability with the new consolidated behaviours (Burnes , 2000) Leaders are needed to deal with change by creating a direction, aligning people, motivating and inspiring them. The process of change must be followed-up and monitored through leadership to verify that what has been proposed is in fact being fulfilled and that there is continuity in the new procedures and acquired behaviours. 1.3 Problem Statement To survive in a highly competitive environment, an organization must to adapt to change however, it comes with resistance and unclear vision. These issues may be overcome by the kind or style of leadership to be adopted by the organization, been aware of their desired goals. RS 016 4 1.4 Aim of the Study The aim of this research is to evaluate how Leadership is influencing Organizational Change in EFJ Bank in Mozambique, through a case study and to propose recommendations to improve the process of change within the Bank. 1.5 Research Objectives General: • Critically discuss the role of leadership in driving organizational change programmes. Specific • Evaluate how the leadership style a manager adopts can facilitate change. • Evaluate the use of motivation theories in EFJ Bank to determinate their effectiveness in improving employee morale and efficiency. • To present recommendations to EFJ Bank on how to improve Leadership style issues in their teams in order to facilitate change. 1.6 Research Questions • To what extent can Leadership impact Organizational Change? • How the adopted leadership style can facilitate change? • How EFJ Bank is using the motivation theories to improve employee morale and efficiency? • How should EFJ Bank improve Leadership style in order to facilitate change? 1.7 Target Population RS 016 5 Research Strategy: Interview Method In-depth Interviews As this research is focused on employee’s behavior associated with their Leadership styles, in-depth interviews will be conducted to collect qualitative data. To the interviews will be used open-ended questions that will allow the interviewees to be free, and semi-structured questions. During the interviews, the researcher will interpret what he is listening, seeking for more information and at the same time taking notes. The interviewees will be the Team Leaders within the International Business Centre of EFJ Bank as well as their team members. 1.8 Sample Size To conduct this research will be used the Qualitative approach, the researcher has decided to choose as the sample, employees from International Business Centre within Operations at EFJ Bank composed by (10) participants where (3) are Team Leaders.
