The following questions were developed by students for an interview with a U.S. Marine who had recently returned from Iraq. Part 1: The students thought all the questions they were asking were open-ended but, in fact, several could be answered with a simple "yes" or "no." Identify which questions are not open-ended. Part 2: Rewrite the closed-ended questions as open-ended ones that can elicit the desired information.
• Did you feel proud to be an American?
• What's the best thing about being home?

• Did you think this war was necessary?
• What will you miss about being in the Marine Corps?
