The first-ever broadcast to travel across national borders was the so called Calais experiment in August 1950, when the program “Calais en Fête” was broadcast from Calais to London. While demonstrating the technical capabilities of transnational television, the broadcast was one directional, only allowing viewers in London to see the program.
