The Final Paper provides you with an opportunity to integrate and reflect on what you have learned during the class.

The question to address is, what have you learned about statistics? In developing your responses, consider—at a minimum—and discuss the application of each of the course elements in analyzing and making decisions about data (counts and/or measurements).

The course elements include

  • Descriptive statistics.

  • Inferential statistics.

  • Hypothesis development and testing.

  • Selection of appropriate statistical tests.

  • Evaluating statistical results.

The Final Paper

  • Must be three to five double-spaced pages in length (not including title and references pages) and formatted according to APA style.

  • Must include a separate title page with the following:

    • Title of paper

    • Student’s name

    • Course name and number

    • Instructor’s name

    • Date submitted

  • Must begin with an introductory paragraph that has a succinct thesis statement.

  • Must address the topic of the paper with critical thought.

  • Must end with a conclusion that reaffirms your thesis.

  • Must use at least three scholarly sources in addition to the course text.

    • Must document all sources in APA style.

  • Must include a separate references page that is formatted according to APA style

Introduction
I want to analyze the intelligence quotient (IQ) score of patients with high cholesterol and
blood pressure. My dependent variable is Intelligence quoti
ent (IQ) score. Independent variables
are type of cholesterol (high or normal) and blood pressure (high or normal).
Descriptive statistics
Descriptive statistics includes measurement of scale, measure of central tendency and
variability and graphical representation of data. Intelligence quotient (IQ) score is a continuous
variable measure on ratio scale of measurement. Type of cholesterol and blood pressure is a
qualitative variable measured on nominal scale of measurement. Cholesterol and blood pressure,
both are categorized as high or normal.
Assuming Intelligence quotient (IQ) score has normal distribution, I can say that mean
and standard deviation are best measures of central tendency and variability. Type of cholesterol
(high or normal) and blood pressure (high or normal) have mode as their best measure of central
tendency. Peatman, J. G. (1947).
Histogram will be an appropriate pictorial representation of Intelligence quotient (IQ)
score. I can also calculate minimum, Quartile 1, Quartile 2, Quartile 3 and maximum value for
Intelligence quotient (IQ) score to have a better idea about it. Quartile 1, 2 and 3 value implies
25%, 50% and 75% of data lies below it respectively. Peatman, J. G. (1947).
Pie chart depicting the percentage of Type of cholesterol (high or normal) and blood
pressure (high or normal) is considered as an appropriate pictorial representation. Peatman, J. G.
(1947).

Inference statistics includes 5 steps of...
