The essay should be about one the works of literature we have read so far. The topic is up to you, but it should be manageable in 3pages. Feel free to use one of your TSDs as a starting point. Here are a few possible paper topics: I chose to write on one of the themes in “The Man of Feeling”Novel. (Good and Evil). I chose the 4th option below.

1) Can you identify a major theme in this work? Is the narrator's attitude toward this theme consistent? How does this theme develop throughout the course of the literary work?

2) Consult the "Critical Approaches" section in our Norton Anthology (starting on page 1352) in order to write an essay from the perspective of one or more of these theoretical frameworks (Marxism, feminism, etc.) about one of the works of literature that we have read.

3) Apply historical or biographical information to one of the works of literature that we have read. How does this contextual information change our interpretations of specific passages (quotations)?

4) Pick your own topic (if none of the ones above appeal to you). It must be about one of the works of literature that we have read in class.

My topic is Good and Evil in the novel of “The Man of Feeling”

Regardless of which option you choose, the essay should be three to four pages long, double-spaced, and in Times New Roman font. Three well-written pages will always get a better grade than three mediocre ones with an extra page of filler so aim for quality rather than quantity. Paragraphs should be roughly ¾ of page with approximately two quotations per body paragraph (none in the introduction or conclusion) to illustrate your ideas. Make sure to provide a clear link between your evidence and claims. Topic and concluding sentences will help to keep you focused.

A clear arguable thesis statement in the last sentence of your first paragraph should be developed in each of your subsequent body paragraphs. Please keep plot summary to a minimum (generally less than fifteen percent of your essay). Outside research is unnecessary for this essay, but if you do use sources other than your text book, please cite them in the proper (MLA Format 8th Edition). You must submit the essay to TurnItIn by midnight on October 1, 2019.

Please write in basic English as the professor does know my writing because my English is very basic and write in low vocabulary. I will be attaching the whole novel by email to [email protected] from [email protected] and I will include the order number so the tutor can easily find the book. Please use only the novel for reference. No outside sources. Whenever you use a quote please explain it and give the authors last name and page number.

Introduction
“The Man of Feeling”, a well-knit and meaningful novel by Henry Mackenzie revolves around the protagonist, Harley. The story has an attractive and unique blending of fragmentation of events with wide array of strong emotional notes comprising hatred and love, disappointment and happiness, peace and anger and lastly, wisdom and loss. A quotation from the novel says that “man is an animal equally selfish and vain” and in contrast to this image, the author has shaped the character of Harley in the light of selflessness (Mackenzie, p.32). The story is framed in a discontinuous narrative style where Harley is shown to pursue his unsuccessful visit to London for asking assistance from a baronet. With the gradual development of the plot, the personality of the protagonist is evolved as a high sentimental individual, who promptly gives reaction to instances of woes, wisdom and tirades expressed by people, whom Harley has encountered in life.
Body
1. Harley encounters beggar and con artists
In Chapter XXV of the novel as the protagonist continues his journey, he comes across a beggar, who fails to distinguish between necessity and honesty. The beggar is introduced in a moment of making conversation with “a fresh looking, elderly gentleman” (Mackenzie, p.33).
He has expressed his empathy for few of the Bedlam based inmates....
