The effects can be quite dramatic: feeling that time is no longer measurable or relevant, reacting emotionally to objects that otherwise would be unnoticed and unimportant (fly specks on a window or lint on a rug), or losing one’s identity in the universe or the woodwork. 11 Some users experience “synesthesia,” a crossing over of senses during which they, for example, see music or smell or taste colors. 12
