A sample of 41 single American workers had a mean retirement savings account balance of $32,048 and a standard deviation of $7,690. A sample of 59 married American workers had a mean retirement savings account balance of $77,594 with a standard deviation of $19,365.
Do these samples provided sufficient evidence for the Economic Policy Institute to report that the mean retirement savings account balance for married American workers is higher than the mean retirement savings account balance for single American workers?
