Theme: The destruction of world forests in inevitable, as our need for land and good, is growing 1. Purpose Explain, in detail, the focused topic that you would like to write about. Include the overall topic, as well as the driving question of the topic.  Explain what is exciting and curious to you about this topic as well as why you think it is an important topic to investigate. You can also summarize the different discussions you think you would like to explore in your research as well as the subsequent questions you may ask. 2. Objective Curiosity Explain your personal connection to this topic. What is your previous relationship with this topic? What made you want to research this topic? How does it connect to your life personally? Are there any potential biases you may carry? Then, explain how you will approach your research from an objective standpoint. How will you ensure that you are objective in your collection of evidence? Convince me that you will not fall victim to confirmation bias :) You have to select a topic that you hope to learn more about, not something you already know a lot about, and already hold strong opinions about. If it feels like you are too personally connected to this topic in a way that will obstruct your objective analysis, then I will encourage you to select something else.  3. Preliminary Research By now, you should have already completed some first-wave investigative research. Explain what information you have learned so far. What are some of the most interesting pieces of evidence you have found in your early research? Also, explain the types of sources you have targeted.  In other words, from what types of sources have you procured your preliminary research? 4. Scholarly Source Check It is okay if you have yet to actual read scholarly sources for your topic. However, you need to make sure, before you propose a topic idea, that you have confirmed there are scholarly sources available that will contribute to your discussion.  Therefore, please include the bibliographic citations for two scholarly sources that you have found, pertaining to your topic. You may cite the source in either APA or MLA standards, but you need to be sure that you are using the correct format for citations. If I cannot tell that it is scholarly, then you are in jeopardy of having your topic proposal denied. After you list the citations, please briefly explain what these articles are about. You can simply paraphrase/summarize the abstracts--it's okay if you have yet to read them
