The consensual pupillary response is tested by:
1. Asking the client if he or she has trouble closing his or her eyes
2. Directing a light toward one eye and observing the pupil on the opposite side
3. Instructing the client to cover one while you observe the opposite eye for extraocular movements
4. Evaluating the ability of the client’s eyes to converge
