The coefficient of permeability for a fine-grained soil is determined in a laboratory by use of a falling-head test. Test conditions and results are as indicated below. Determine the coefficient of permeability, then indicate the probable soil classification.
• At the start of the test, the water level in the supply standpipe is 1 m above the top of the permeameter.
• One hour after start, the water level in the supply standpipe is 0.95 m above the top of the permeameter.
