Overview of Organization
Rogers is one of the largest, leading and reputed Canadian communications and Media Company operating primarily in the field of cable & digital television, broadcasting, landline, internet services, telephony and wireless communications. The head office of the company in Toronto, Ontario. The company was founded in 1925 by Edward S. Rogers Sr. as a Rogers Vacuum Tube Company. The main competitor of Rogers is Bell Canada that offers similar types of media and communication related products and services in the market (Rogers Communication. 2023). Moreover, it is found that, Rogers has its business operations in the United Kingdom (UK) and United State of America (USA) with the partnership with other media and communication companies. For example, the company has more than 198(35.80%) and 18(3.25%) business customers in United States and UK respectively. Moreover, more than 275 companies in Canada is using Rogers’s media and communication services. For instance, 49.73% of Rogers Communications customers are from the Canada (Rogers Communication. 2023).

According to Taylor (2023), the above statistics shows that the company employed about 24,000 employees in 2021. This is reduction by 1000 as company employed 23000 people in 2020. The number of employees has fluctuated due to the recent pandemic Covid-19.

According to Taylor (2023), the above statistics reflects that the company generated 8.77B (Canadian dollars) in revenues from the wireless segment. The total revenues for 2021 is 14.66 (Canadian dollars).

In 2021, Rogers Communications announced its intention to acquire Shaw Communications in a deal valued at approximately CAD 26 billion. Shaw Communications Inc. is also a Canadian telecommunications company that provides internet, television, and home phone services. The company was founded in 1966 and is headquartered in Calgary, Alberta. Shaw Communications operates throughout Canada and has approximately 3.2 million internet and 1.5 million television customers as of 2021. The company has a market capitalization of around CAD 14 billion and employs approximately 10,000 people. The merger is subject to regulatory approval and is expected to be completed by mid-2022. The merger would create a major Canadian telecommunications company with a significant market share in wireless, internet, and television services (CityNews Ottawa. 2021).
