The assessment suite aims to equip students with the necessary skills to understand the constraints managers and emerging leaders face in developing strategies to leverage advantages and overcome constraints and barriers in organisations. You will need to critically evaluate this issue in the chosen organisational context drawing from a relevant management theory. This handout highlights a variety of data sources available to the manager, both internally and externally, to help them make decisions. This data is also available to students if they select the right organisation and are prepared to conduct the research. MGMT6012 Assignment One Brief Page 3 of 6 Students should search for internal data about the organisation – official websites, annual reports, strategic plans, other publications (newsletters, CSR reports, codes of conduct) and also media releases, digital media and social media published by the organisation. Students should also search externally for data about the organisation – Australian Bureau of Statistics, Ibis world, industry associations’ database, media reports, journal articles, feedback from customers or commentary from employees and other stakeholders. Students will need to filter the data from the above sources and use only data that is relevant to the management of the organisation. The relevant data sources should be summarised in the Methodology section, and then used throughout the report to explain the management practices of the organisation. Students should stay focused on the topics from the first three modules of the subject and not be distracted by other functions of the organisation (for example marketing, financial performance). Students should commence this assignment early, keep regular backups and ensure they submit the correct, final version. In the following assignment, we will discuss about the organisational change of a company and the various aspect of this change. An organisational change is the process, in which an organisation makes changes in various sections within the organisation to achieve the desired goal. Many internal and external factors can be addressed as organisational change. In order to be more precise, in this following assignment we define the organisational change covering the following aspects such as strategies, culture, technology and structure.
Satirical changes indicate the clear understanding on the purpose of each activity and a clear vision on the process to achieve the end goal. Cultural change can be addressed to the change of the culture of an organisation. Such as changes in the working sector environment. Technological change is a process orient change. This organisational change is implied when an organisation decide to make change in their technology or to improve the work process. Last but not the least; structural change is the change when an organisation changes in their internal structure of command, recruitment process, and job structure and system management. In this following assignment, we will be discussing about the organisational change of an Australian company.
Overview of the Selected Methodology
The managers at Australia Post have jotted down a few objectives in order to follow through with the organisational change. Ever since the revolutions hit the industry, the organisation has been focusing more and more in their employees and workers (Evans, 2016). Therefore, one of the key objectives of their research was to figure out ways to motivate the workers for accomplishing better work performances. The company also wants to build a relationship with its customers as well as clienteles. The organisation has taken a hit in its postal service, which is why they are focused on upgrading their services and products for acquiring customer satisfaction (Richter, Cepeda, Roldan & Ringle, 2015).
In order to achieve the objectives, the company needs to conduct a thorough research. The research method selected to collect data needed for the outcome is qualitative method. It means that the information will be collected using several procedures in forms of qualitative data. Afterward, the data will have screened and processed to highlight the important parts (Stahl, Tung, Kostova & Zellmer-Bruhn, 2016). The most common procedures used for this are – in-depth interviews, observation and focus groups. The company has hired a group of professionals who shall be conducting the methods on behalf of them to acquire the information (Di Fabio, 2017).
The researchers have selected a large group of people whom they will be contacting via mobile number and talking to them about the company. The questions will be based on the company’s existing service and products. The participants will be asked whether they are satisfied with it or not. The experts will also select a group of 30 people picked out demographically as a focus group. The group members will be made familiar with the services and inquired about their perspective of them (Guillaume et al., 2016).
Due to the face-to-face interactions, the researchers will be able to understand their reactions about it more clearly. They will also interview the current employees to know their point of view on the company’s operations, projects and their suggestions to enhance the organisation all together. Since the employees are expected to improve their performance at handling the projects, the company’s work culture is also a part of the questions (Ochieng & Chileshe, 2016).
The organisation has introduced a few policies in the past regarding employees and consumers. One of the policies was to reward the employees when they are performing well. It is an effective policy to assure employee satisfaction and work improvement. The organisation also announced a policy intended to the benefits of their customers. It suggested that the consumers would be refunded immediately if they received a faulty product and had complained officially (Calma & Davies, 2016). The customers can also opt for repairing the product for free by company workers.
