The axis of a gyroscope is tilted at an angle of 30° to the vertical (Figure 11.117). The rotor has a radius of 15 cm, mass 3 kg, moment of inertia 0.06 kg m2, and spins on its axis at 30 radians/s. It is supported in a cage (not shown) in such a way that without an added weight it does not precess. Then a mass of 0.2 kg is hung from the axis at a distance of 18 cm from the center of the rotor.
