On the one hand, people with no background in a given subject should be able to read an entry and get a clear picture of the state of knowledge on that subject, including current debates about it. On the other hand, experts on a topic should be able to read an entry, nodding approvingly as they move through the article and finding that the relevant information has been presented clearly and faithfully.
