Prepare TWO separate diagrams: one for the Federal Court system & one for the Ohio State Court system. Make sure you include the following:



  1. The Diagram should not be a copy from some other source

  2. Identify each court on the diagram by its correct name

  3. Identify the type of jurisdiction the court has (original – general or limited, appellate –mandatory or discretionary or both appellate & original)

  4. Identify the subject matter jurisdiction of each court (i.e. what type of cases does it have the authority to hear Ex: Ohio Common Pleas Domestic Relations Division hears divorces/dissolutions)

  5. Show how a case flows through the court system (where does it start, where does it go – you can accomplish this by using arrows).


Your final product must be typed, in 12 point font or larger on 8 ½” x 11” paper – one diagram per page.You can use Word to insert shapes.
