The article review will give you the opportunity to select and review a refereed sociology journal article published between 2010 and 2020. Pick an article from a journal with the word “sociology” in the title (for example, Canadian Review of Sociology, The Canadian Journal of Sociology, or Sociological Science). The word “social” may be acceptable (for example, Social History, Social Forces, or Social Problems) as may be the word “society” (for example, Technology in Society or City, Culture and Society). Because predatory journals – journals that look peer-reviewed but are not – are out there, you are advised to check with me first once you have identified a possible article. Do not choose an article from a psychology, geography, philosophy, economics, or political science journal. The sociological refereed journal article should be 10-20 pages in length.Once you have selected and read the article, ask yourself what sociological theory the article is using, what the article is saying, what kind of evidence it uses, and determine if you agree and accept this argument or not, as well as your reasons for doing so. Your goal is not to provide a descriptive summary that simply restates all of the points the article makes in a step-by-step fashion; rather, you are to produce a critical analysis that first summarizes and then evaluates that article itself. Your goal is to discuss and evaluate the strengths, weakness and notable features of the text. As this is not a research paper or an argumentative essay, a thesis statement is not required. This paper will be at 4 full-pages in length, double spaced, on double-sided paper, with 2.54 cm all around margins. You are to use full sentence, paragraph style writing. Do not use headings in the text. The article should include a title page that is not numbered. Finally, please use the American Sociological Association (ASA) reference style.Your article review must include the following sections: a title page, introduction, summary, critique, conclusion and works cited. Other than the works cited, please do not label these sections. A thesis statement is not required.
