The aim of this thesis is to assess the effects of exposure to electromagnetic fields of the 5G type, which is the 5th generation of mobile networks currently being deployed in the world and in France. This technology will make it possible to improve existing services and develop new services. Many questions are being asked about the possible effects of this type of exposure, despite the latest ANSES report which concludes that it is unlikely that there are effects while studies on the subject are very limited.
The PériTox laboratory has shown in previous work that exposure to 900 MHz induces physiological modifications which would have the origin of an activation of thermogenesis processes. This thesis project will be based on this work to assess the effects of exposure to 3.5 GHz, the frequency band used for 5G.For this, in addition to evaluating the effects on thermoregulation, the effects on the major physiological functions which participate in thermal regulation will be analyzed: sleep, cardiovascular and endocrine functions.Molecular and cellular analyzes related to these functions will be carried out.The study will include groups of animals (male and female) at different ages, whether or not they are exposed to 5G-type radiofrequencies (3,5 GHz and 900 MHz) for different times and in different ways.If effects are observed, the target of electromagnetic fields will be sought because so far, no mechanism of action has been identified.

1) What genes regulated by thyroid hormones could you target to assess the effects of electromagnetic fields (EMFs) on thermoregulation? 2) What indicator (s) more specific than the c-fos staining could you use to assess the involvement of the hypothalamus in the observed effects? 3) What can we measure as a parameter to assess vascular effects using the MRI technique?
