Docmail, a UK-based printing and mailing company, conducted a study and concluded that one of every three adults had not been required to produce something in handwriting for more than a year.60 To check this claim in the United States, a random sample of 656 adults was obtained, and 235 said they had not been required to produce something in handwriting for more than a year. College studyabroad programs have great educational value, compel students to become more globally aware, and invite participants to learn about different nations and cultures. Some colleges sponsor several programs and have high participation rates. However, nationally, only 14% of all college students participate in a study-abroad program.61 Recent world events may have made more students leery of travel and life in another country. In a random sample of 1200 graduating college students, 150 said they had participated in a study-abroad program.
