Teachers should be careful to guard against
a. not correcting children’s speech by drawing attention to errors.
b. thinking that only Standard English is correct and therefore better than English spoken in a dialect.
c. giving children the idea that they speak differently or “funny.”
d. giving special attention to children who come from low-income homes.
