For the purposes of this assignment you need to investigate the Equality Act 2010
In this section you are asked to briefly describe the Act in order to put the rest of the portfolio into context.
i.    Explain briefly what the Act is and why is it relevant to health and social care? (Ensure you list the nine protective characteristics)

You have been given a contemporary policy that has featured in the media making it a concern to the public. In this section you are asked to look at the various ways in which policies such as this come to the attention of the public and how reliable the sources of the information are.
