This item will help you to identify values, beliefs and attitudes that shapes professional practice and will assist your development as a professional and/or potential nurse leader.
Nursing research uses best available evidence and guidelines to enhance nursing practice and patient outcomes. As a professional body dissemination of our findings need to occur through facilitation and mutual shaping of knowledge and experience with our colleagues.
For this assessment item you have been asked by your unit manager to present a poster at the next Palliative Care for Nurses Conference. The conference is attended by Directors of Nursing and Quality, Academics and Healthcare Managers, Training and Development Professional and Registered Nurses.
The central focus for your poster is based on one of the core values of the Palliative Care Industry Standards guidelines (National Palliative Care Service pg. 13). You are required to select one of the core values from these industry standards and report the influence and effects that it has on the person at the dying phase of their illness trajectory.
Format: Poster that includes the following:
• Identification of a chosen core value and its significance in the context of palliative care.
• Identification and discussion of influence this core value has at the dying phase of trajectory.
• Demonstrate findings relevant to the focus of the poster (may be presented in table format).
• Clarity and synthesis of knowledge regarding how the core values influences practice, care and experience.
• Discussion of relevance of findings to the poster theme.
• Overall conclusion
