TASK 4
The Catholic Church says that God transcends all creatures and is"the inexpressible, the in-comprehendible, the invisible, the ungraspable".Yet, in the bible authors have used a number of different images to attempt to express this inexpressible reality.
A) SELECT an image for each of the different scriptural representation of God
B) JUSTIFY your selection by DESCRIBING the key features of the image
Scripture passage
Image of God
Justification
The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want (Psalm 23:!)
The reason I chose this image was because God can be seen as a shepherd. This is because when a sheep gets lost or finds it hard to keep up with the others, the shepherd will lead the sheep to safety and will help the sheep who are struggling to keep up the shepherd will help the sheep. The shepherd is just like God because when we need Gods help he will help us, when we start going the wrong direction god directs us back to the right direction. some of the key features in this image is a shepherd caring a little or lost lamb in left hand while he is guiding the other sheep's back to their home. I think that God is a kind generous man just like the friendly shepherd.
Again Jesus spoke to them, saying, " am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness but will have the light of life". (John 8:12)
This image represents God and Jesus because a night time there is a lighthouse shining out to the sea to help the boats see where they are going. So that they don't crash into another boat, rocks or hit something that they are not meant to. God and Jesus never leave us in the dark they always leave a light shining so that we can see and not crash into anything. A lighthouse is designed to help us, not only see but to make it back to share safely. That is exactly what God and Jesus do for as. I think that God and Jesus are just like the lighthouse because they help us to see and get to the place we need to go safely.
Can a woman forget her nursing-child, or show no compassion for the child of her womb? Even these may forget, yet I will not forget you. See, I have inscribed you on the palms of my hands;yourwalls are continually before me (Isaiah 66:13) - Mother
I chose this image torepresentGod because
And if people were amazed at their power and working, let them perceive from them how much more powerfulsithe one who formed them. For the greatness and beauty of created things comes a corresponding perception of their Creator (Wisdom 13:4-5) - Creator
