Despite nursing progress note is the written reflection of nursing assessment, yet it shows the exemplar of verbal and non-verbal communication between nurse and the patient. As suggested by Wilson (2018), nursing progress note is a medical note, which is a part of medical record of the patient made by nurse. It demonstrates of reflection of nursing assessment of the patient.
Nursing progress note is helpful in making good decision about the patient care. It provides the complete assessment of patient’s mental, physical and emotional condition. The transition care given to the patient is based on grief and loss communication framework. Grief and loss model are used because patient loss her spouse and under grief. Grief and loss model is used as strategy to provide care and relief of the patient.

As suggested by Ruesch, Bateson, Pinsker and Combs (2017), communication can be defined as the channel, through which people share their ideas, feelings, information and thinking with each other. Communication can be of three types that are verbal, non-verbal and written. In the profession of nursing, communication play important role. Nurses communicate with patients to assess their condition; nurses interact with families of patient, convey reports to the doctors and provide instruction to fellow nurse while switching the duty.
Nursing progress note demonstrates the verbal and non-verbal written communication strategies used by nurse while reporting about the condition of the patient. As mentioned by Ostergaard and Sorensen (2018), written communication includes the use symbols or words to convey the message appropriately. Words used in written communication helps in demonstrating verbal and non-verbal form.
