Tannenbaum uses the word dangerous to describe benevolent sexism in paragraphs 4, 13, and 26. She goes further, adding the word insidious to imply that this brand of sexism is more dangerous because it is oen hidden and gradually harmful — to both women and men. What social values does benevolent sexism threaten? What kinds of danger does it pose to those who have been the objects of benevolent sexism or who are “tempt[ed] to brush this experience off as an overreaction … or a misunderstanding” (par. 4)? What should people do in the face of danger?
