Tamika is a 17-year-old Hispanic female in her junior year of high school. Recently, her teachers have been concerned due to her poor grades and disruptive classroom behaviors. Prior to this time Tamika was a model student and received outstanding grades and accolades for her academic and athletic behaviors. You met with Tamika and she confided to you that school just doesn’t seem to be worthwhile anymore because her parents are opposed to her going on to higher education.
