System and Network Administration Final Project Requirements

The Final Project for this course makes up the bulk of the assessment weighting. Much of what you are asked to do is drawn from the weekly assessment tasks and material covered in the readings. Some additional research and reading will be required.
Any questions of clarification or requests for help for the Final Project should be raised on the Course Forum under the topic 'Final Project'.

Overview

You are required to build a small system for a small non-governmental organisation (NGO) with around 50 employees. A portion of the workforce, around 20, is made up of short term volunteers from all around the world (terms are typically between 3 and 6 months). Whilst employed by the company, the volunteers are given similar, but not the same access to systems as fulltime staff. Once volunteers leave, all access must be revoked.
The organisation requires a forward facing (connected to the Internet) Web Server that is located in their building.
Employeesrequire a file sharing server to store all of their files. This allows staff to share files and also allows files to be backed up to a central Backup Server.
A central Backup Server is used to backup all systems in the organisation. The Backup Server has an automated tape drive system that uses third party software to write specified files to tape daily.
Internal, online documentation is very important to the organisation since many of the employees are temporary. Detailed documentation is developed so that the volunteers can simply be shown how to access the Document Server which provides enough information for volunteers to begin productive work. The single internal Document Server is also used to document all of the organisations policies, procedures, systems and infrastructure.
