Suppose you are interested in testing the following hypothesis using the following research design:

Hypothesis: Teachers will rate the same disruptive behavior of male students more severely than female students.

Research design: You select a sample of 30 teachers. Each teacher reads six vignettes describing a mildly inappropriate behavior (chewing gum), moderately inappropriate behavior (swearing at a teacher), and highly inappropriate behavior (hitting a classmate) each with a male and female perpetrator. Teachers rate the severity of the disruptive behavior on a scale from 1 to 10.
