Suppose the “real problem of freedom” is this: How can people have the freedom to do something other than what they actually did? Determinism answers by saying people never have such freedom. Libertarianism answers by saying people’s consciousness gives them that freedom. But compatibilism fails to answer the real problem of freedom. Explain why this criticism of compatibilism is right or why it is wrong.
