From the early 1990s the NYPD has used a strategy for crime prevention where the officers when they have a reasonable suspicion they can stop and interrogate an individual and even frisk them; patting down the clothes of that person. However due to the liberal opposition this strategy has been called into question and the federal district judge declared the use of the strategy by NYPD is unconstitutional as she ordered a number of remedies to counter it.
