xtrinsic motivations are opposite ends of a scale. Intrinsic
motivation comes from the inside; for example, I ate breakfast this morning because I was
hungry. No-one forced me to eat, and there was no particular party directing what I ate;
rather, the choice was entirely based on my urges and conscious decisions. If I had wanted a
hamburger instead of cereal, that is what I would have eaten. In contrast, extrinsic motivation
is a matter of external pressure. For example, if I go to lunch with friends, the particular
choice of restaurant and details of what I consume, particularly in regards to alcohol, are a
result of peer pressure, since it would negatively affect my standing if I suggested greasy fast
food when everyone else...
