Executive Summary
Woolworths is one of the key players within the Australian supermarket/retail industry. Currently, the organisation has taken an initiative to introduce an IoT system throughout the supply chain of the company, which would enable it to track the movement of each product as they are being produced, transported and finally, sold to the customers. Nevertheless, the company has been facing several issues that affect the successful implementation of the initiative. This report aims to identify the issues and justify the reasons behind the development of the issues. The fundamental agenda of this report is to develop responsible leadership strategies, which would enable the organisation in terms of successfully implementing the initiative and facilitate management change.

1. Introduction
The increasing acceptability and usefulness of technological innovations that are being introduced every day, businesses now have many opportunities to enhance their functionality, efficiency and production capabilities to name a few. IoT is an abbreviated form for the Internet of Things. The Internet of Things refers to the expanding network of objects, systems and mechanisms that are connected together through IP addresses. IoT facilitates the level of communication, interaction, as well as, the integration among these and other systems and devices that operate on the internet (Chiang & Zhang, 2016).
Woolworths is a key player within the Australian supermarket chain sector. In this assignment, the problems and challenges that Woolworths has been facing in terms of implementing IoT have been analysed and justified reasons have been provided. Additionally, the manner, in which responsible leadership can be used as an effective enabler within the organisation in order to resolve the issues the company has been facing has been evaluated and justified.
2. Implementing IoT by Woolworths
In 2018, Woolworths revealed a massive-scape IoT project referred to as "farm to fork". The purpose of this project is to install sensors throughout the entirety of its supply chain in order to facilitate tracking the production of the products to the manner, in which they are transported to retailers to how they are sold to the consumers. The fundamental agenda of the company behind this initiative is to collect and track a huge amount of enriched information pertaining to its entire supply chain.
In addition to collecting the data, according to reports, the company also plans to enable consumers to check the information to enable them in terms of being aware of the provenance of the product offerings. According to the plan, the company will install QR codes on the products, which can be scanned by the customers on their Android, Windows or iOS devices in order to know where the products were manufactured, produced or grown. Having access to so much data pertaining to the supply chain is expected to enable the company in terms of managing its supply chain more effectively and efficiently. However, the company has been facing several issues in terms of successfully executing the IoT project.
3. Problems in implementing IoT by Woolworths
As stated before, the company has been experiencing several issues in terms of executing the different phases of the Internet of Things project that has been introduced by the organisation in order to monitor the activities through the entirety of its supply chain. It has been evident that the organisation currently does not have the necessary human resources with the appropriate amount of skills, knowledge and capabilities, which would enable them in terms of successfully executing the phases associated with the project. The current human resources of the organisation lack in terms of effectively working with the different functionalities and mechanisms that are involved in the initiative.
The second issue that the company has been experiencing is related to learning and development or employee insubordination. In this context, it may be said that a majority of employees, especially the ones that are aged 40 or over refuse to learn how to use new technologies as they may believe it would complicate their jobs further (Cohen, 2017).
