Ensure pages are numbered • Presentation: pay attention to formatting and layout (headings, sub-headings, margins, tables, diagrams, etc.) Focus • This assignment allows you to demonstrate your knowledge and skills in policy analysis, policy development and policy advocacy • You need to demonstrate an understanding of the following areas: o familiarity with major state, national & international institutions and arrangements that influence and shape the selected policy; o familiarity with the contemporary policy environment within which this field of health policy is located; o familiarity with the leading arguments and main political forces associated with this particular policy; and o familiarity with relevant policy theories and frameworks. Topic Select a policy issue of interest to you for analysis, and identify the institutional perspective from which you will be undertaking the exercise. Ideally, you will: o Examine the historical development of the policy issue; o Analyse the factors which have influenced the course of policy development and implementation (including the institutions and the actors); o Consider the strengths and weaknesses (or benefits and costs) of current and/or proposed policy positions; o Identify and apply a relevant theoretical framework; and o Propose realistic policy improvements.
