    The impact of slavery can be seen clearly on the history and culture of the United States. Not only this, the contribution of slavery in the economic activities of the nation cannot be avoided. There is no doubt about the fact that slavery has left a huge impact on today’s modern society. Slavery happened in the first place to justify a lifestyle, which contributed extensively towards the economic development of most of the countries, who managed to emerge as superpowers in today’s society. Most of the individuals, who defend the act of slavery, are of the opinion that slavery provided the much-needed labour for the development of the country. However, in the recent times, this need can be considered not as a need of labour but rather a need for superiority. Even in today’s society, it can be seen that the more powerful people tend to exploit the ones, who are more vulnerable (The Washington Post).
    Racism was another reason, which provoked slavery and forced the Black Americans to work for the rich white elites. This subconscious reason of slavery still seems to be alive in one or the other way in the modern society of today. Different races have been making continuous efforts to be superior to one another. People belonging to superior race are often seen creating inferiority complex for the people belonging to the inferior races, despite of the fact that law (Berkeley News) has prohibited it.
