Students will write a paper regarding Corrections
Empirical and Quantitative Skills –to include the manipulation and analysis of numerical data or observable facts resulting in informed conclusions.
Assessment Method:[PAPER]Students will determine trends specific to corrections and recidivism obtained from statistical data sources. This data will then be used to evaluate best practices and provide justification for the use of those practices in the community setting. Students will also explore data that would justify the barring of release for various groups of offenders. Elements to address will include victimless crimes, criminal histories of the offenders, barriers to reintegration, and sex-offences. The students will then demonstrate the impact of the elements on recidivism.

The student will provide a paper regarding the Corrections with the following elements included:
Evidence Based Practices
Current uses
Community correction eligible crimes
Reasons justifying denial of Parole
Reasons justifying community corrections
Racial and socioeconomic issues surrounding corrections
Crimes considerations with corrections
The paper will be written to APA standards inclusive of the following:
An APA cover page
An abstract
A reference page
In-text citations
The student will provide no less than the following:
2+ pages of text not inclusive of the Title page, Abstract page, or Reference page(s).*
2 references (Wikipedia is not permitted as a source; ever).
The paper will be in Times New Roman 12 point font.
The paper will have 1” margins all around.
Length assessment will only be conducted after font sizes have been verified and margins have been verified.
