2. Using the documentSlaveholders in Virginia Argue Against the Abolition of Slavery, 1784-1785discuss how slave supporters justified slavery and how it may have affected the creation of the United States Constitution of 1787
3. In the late 1600's many people were accused and convicted of practicing witchcraft. Using materials from the course, discuss the cause and effect of these accusations.

Students must provide citations for material presented that is not the original work of the student. Students, however, are discouraged from doing outside research as it may complicate your ability to complete the essay within the allotted length.
This essay is purposefully short given the broad question and material chosen for discussion. Among many things, the practice of history teaches students to distill complicated information with often multiple interpretations into concise narratives and/or statements. The length requirement of this essay, therefore, is partially intended to test a student’s abilities to critically analyze material and clearly explain it.
