PROMPT TWO: Slaveholder’s Argument in Favor of Slave Tradition, Virginian Petition
    The arguments for and against slave tradition in
United States complicated the process of regulating constitution in 1787. The slaveholders’ positional stance taken in Virginia during 1784-1785 poses some grave challenges towards framing of the American constitution and thus, making it typical for the states to be dissolved into one central government. The main points against the abolition of slavery included that the overall economy of the South would collapse, if emancipation is regulated in these region by freeing the slaves. Also, as there was no other alternative for slaves to have jobs, only fields and farms were the places where they could work for their social wellbeing. Also, slaveholders argue that they are simply pursuing the religious ideologies by keeping slaves as Bible permits it.
    At first, as per the general observation made of the document written and duly signed by the Virginian petitioners favoring slave tradition, it is clear that the slaveholders were of the view that their main source of economy was related to the working of slaves in the fields. If they were to free slaves, their crops would wither away in the fields as there would be none to take care of the fields and farms. Thus, whole economy of the South will ultimately collapse.
