Students much choose one of the following topics to write an essay that has a focus on the ‘new graduate nurse in Australia’. The topic must be supported by a theme and the essay constructed based on the chosen topic and theme that will be discussed, debated or analysed.

Students must choose one of the topics below:

   The manner in which a team member is asked to perform care by the delegating RN influences the team member’s willingness to respond.

   The professional communication triad between patient, senior team members and yourself as a new registered nurse in communicating care decisions clearly is a complex process requiring assertiveness and accountability.
   

   
   

Aims/Pitch/Audience:

   Although writing ‘to’ this audience – the essay should be in third person
   

   
   

   and not second (i.e. ‘the nurse’ rather than ‘you’)

   A high level of scholarship (researching the literature, using the literature
   

   
   

   and writing the paper) is expected. To these ends, 12 pertinent and current resources is the minimum. Current means in this course 8 years ‘young’ unless a seminal (classic) work. Sometimes secondary citations in a current article will be older (please check in a timely manner with the examiner if in doubt).
